Tutor/Mentor Leadership & Networking Conference, Nov. 4 in Chicago

I will be hosting the next Chicago Tutor/Mentor Leadership and Networking Conference in Chicago at the Metcalfe Federal Building on Friday, November 4. I'm now looking for speakers and workshop presenters who will focus on the "business side" of operating an on-going tutor/mentor program.

Conference Workshops:

Workshops should focus on ways volunteer-based tutor/mentor programs can improve quality, build capacity and succeed for the long-term. A list of suggested topics is posted here.

New Topic Area on Rural Mentoring Added

Hi everyone... Just wanted to note that I have added a new section to the site: Rural Mentoring.

I added this section after attending a workshop on rural mentoring issues at the recent Friends for Youth conference in the Bay Area (loved the workshop title: Out Here in the Fields, which will put a smile on the face of any Who fans).

Happy Holidays to Everyone!

What roles in mentoring programs do forum participants hold?

In browsing the forums, and looking at the topics, I wonder what roles different people take in their organizations and what types of programs are represented.

For instance, are most people mostly involved with the mentoring side of organizations, and not as involved in the marketing and fund raising? Are most programs funded by government grants, and will they disappear when the funding stops? Or are they funded by private donors, and will also disappear if the funding stops?

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! (and what are you thankful for?)

On behalf of all of our staff here at the Mentoring Forums and the National Mentoring Center, we want to wish everyone a happy holiday and safe travels to wherever you may be heading.

We'd also like to express our thanks to each of you for participating in the discussions on this site and for your help in making these forums a great place to find information and interact with your peers in the mentoring field. These types of sites really rely on the active participation of those who join, so thanks for being part of our online community.
