Welcome to the Forum on Match Support and Supervision!
Welcome to the MRC forum on match support and supervision! I’m Patti MacRae, and I’ve been with the National Mentoring Center and the US Department of Education Mentoring Resource Center for nearly five years.
As the host for this forum, I am looking forward to the dicsussions we'll be having on this important topic. Supervising matches to make sure they are safe, engaged in meaningful interactions, and building a positive relationship is pretty much at the heart of mentoring, along with providing ongoing and accessible support for mentors and mentees to help them along their journey. So if you have some good ideas you want to share, want advice or resources, or have a question or comment – we want to hear from you!
Please remember, before you get started, to review the "Forum FAQs" and the "Forum Guidelines" that can be found by clicking the tabs at the top of the page. If you have questions about how to use the forums, please contact me directly at my email address (below) or send me a private message at this link:

Once again, welcome, and enjoy!

My program is seeking to "define" what effective match support is so that we can establish parameters for each staff and develop goals for hiring match support staff relative to total program match growth. We have content areas for match support conversations-that is areas to cover to assess relationship building, safety etc. and we have standards for frequency of contact with matches. We are looking for information more on relating case "difficulty" to case load numbers; ideal case loads; ratio of school based matches to community based matches (each staff does both) for example. Any resources or experiences to suggest?
