One of the all-time most asked questions from mentoring programs is where they can find good data collection, match monitoring, and program management software specific to their needs. We have heard from many programs regarding this issue over the past year, and I have gathered some responses. Obviously, these products are proprietary so I won’t endorse one over the other, just pass along what programs have reported! My question to the group would be, what do you use and how well does it work? Feel free to weigh in!!!

Also, here are a few of the suggestions we have recently received from programs on this topic. Does anyone have more to say about these?:

1. CiviCore – we have heard from a few programs using this system out of Denver. They work with programs one-on-one to set the system up specific to the program’s needs. More info: http://www.civicore.com/

What folks have said:
“There are several now well know data collection software programs including MentorPRO. One that I find to be most successful for many of my clients is called CiviCore. It is used by many mentoring programs. All of these programs have a licensing and management fee but they are worth it. Dave Ryan at CiviCore will take you on a free virtual tour for one hour in front of your computer to show you how it works. Many of our grantees use them. Write to Dave@civicore.com for more information and good luck. Perhaps others can share who they use."

“we're working with CIVICORE in Denver to establish a database designed for mentoring programs....We're not "up and running" but so far it looks very promising.

2. MentorPro – comes from the National Mentoring Partnership and is designed to create a system both for individual programs and so that data could be pooled across programs, nationally. My understanding is that it is available for those programs in states with mentoring partnerships that are participating in the roll-out (your state partnership will have information on this). Also, many program participating in Caregivers Choice have access to a simplified version of this software. For information: https://www.mentorpro.org/

What folks have said:
“We used MentorPro software this year and found it to be helpful in management.”

3. Be A Mentor, Inc. Mentoring Management System
