What roles in mentoring programs do forum participants hold?

In browsing the forums, and looking at the topics, I wonder what roles different people take in their organizations and what types of programs are represented.

For instance, are most people mostly involved with the mentoring side of organizations, and not as involved in the marketing and fund raising? Are most programs funded by government grants, and will they disappear when the funding stops? Or are they funded by private donors, and will also disappear if the funding stops?

I lead the Tutor/Mentor Connection and have hosted conference in Chicago every six months since 1994. The "who attends" question comes up often, so we created a survey that people could fill out. It asked people to say what role they have, and to list priorities they see for their organizations.

You can see the surveys at http://tutormentorconnection.ning.com/forum/topics/tutormentor-survey-most

I am the president and founder of my organization, which was started with 7 volunteers and five teens in 1993. Since then more than 500 teens have participated, with 1/3 being part of the program for 3 to 6 consecutive years. More than 800 volunteers have participated. 90% of the money has come from private donors. Thus, my day has always been split in supporting the youth and volunteers and trying to find donors to pay the bills.

What about you? If you're reading this, why not tell what type of program you're part of and how much you're involved in the marketing and fund raising, or how much you're involved in the mentoring support.

Maybe as we understand our different backgrounds better we can find more ways to work or learn from each other.
