Child Trends has recently released two publications aimed at helping youth-serving programs assess and address bullying and peer conflict.

Assessing Bullying: A Guide for Out-of-School Time Practitioners

This brief covers some of the basics about bullying and includes a short assessment tool, which is actually a combined version of two separate instruments, that can be used with youth to determine how much bullying they may be exposed to. This tool can be helpful for mentoring programs who want to address this issue (it could even be used as a pre-post evaluation instrument).

Assessing Peer Conflict and Agressive Behaviors: A Guide for Out-of-School Time Practitioners
This brief examines more general forms of peer conflict, such as aggressive behavior and mutual disagreements. After a brief review of research on this topic, a number of assessment questions, taken from existing youth surveys and evaluation instruments, are provided.
