I may be expanding into a community that has a lot of retired folks. I'm curious about what's different about using senior citizens as Bigs and how Littles react.
any ideas/support is helpful
Thanks
Colleen

Re: Senior programs

Hi, Colleen. I wanted to refer you to this great "Research in Action" paper on Mentoring Across Generations: Engaging Age 50+ Adults as Mentors . It was written by Dr. Andrea Taylor of the Center for Intergenerational Learning at Temple University. The Center developed the Across Ages Mentoring Program model which utilizes adults that are 55 and older, and is one of the best researched and thoughtfully scaled models for mentoring nationally. It goes into some detail about the nuts and bolts of recruiting older mentors and running mentoring programs, including successes and failures to learn from.

Also, the Center is a wealth of information http://templecil.org/programs and I encourage you to contact them for more information or resources. Hope this is helpful.
