USDOJ: Second Chance Act Mentoring Grants to Nonprofit Organizations, Due March 18

The Second Chance Act of 2007 (Pub. L. 110-199) provides a comprehensive response to the increasing number of people who are released from prison and jail and returning to communities. Projects must have these features:

  1. Mentoring offenders during incarceration, through transition back to the community, and post-release.
  2. Transitional services to assist in the reintegration of offenders into the community.
  3. Training regarding offender and victims issues.
  4. Mentor Training

Amount: $300,000. A match is not required but a 25% in-kind match is encouraged
Award: The award is for 24 months and applicants may be able to renew.
Due: March 18
