Marketing and Recruiting Using Facebook Causes
Hi,
A couple of colleagues here at Education Northwest have been studying Facebook's Causes application to see how it can be used by youth and volunteer programs. They've developed a few guidelines and tips I thought I'd pass along (see attachments). Some of the material is geared to folks who might like to start their own nonprofits or advocacy initiatives, but many of the principles should work for established organizations as well.
If you've used Facebook Causes in your own marketing and recruitment, I (and I'm sure plenty of others) would love to hear how it's been going.

Hi Everyone!
Here is a great post from Beth Kanter, one my favorite non-profit tech consultants regarding Facebook:

We've been utilizing the Facebook fan page. One thing I am really enjoying is that you can also link your blog to your FB fan page- eg when you have a blog post, it posts to your Facebook wall. With a fan page, you also have access to visitor statistics, via the "insights" tab. In general, pages build "long-term" relationships with your audience. You can utilize applications on a fan page, but cannot on a group page. I might use the cause page around a specific recruitment, but for keeping our community abreast of what's happening, I'll go to our fan page.
Best of luck with social networking!
Cristine
