Here is Youth Today's description of the forum:
"Nov. 10 forum featuring the former administrators of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and so is the website. We're building a collective history of OJJDP, and we'd like you to join the conversation.
To participate visit &&Youth Today Exchange.
Each day we're posting new content: historical documents (including congressional hearing transcripts, speeches and memos), articles about each OJJDP administrator's tenure, photos, anecdotes and more. All of this to help understand what the federal juvenile justice agency set out to accomplish, how it has functioned, and where it's going.
Among the latest postings you can read now...
Two brief histories of the Juvenile Justice Act and its impact, written by congressional staffers.
The tenure of John Rector, a reformer-turned-administrator who fought with everybody.
His successor, Ira Schwartz, another reformer who aimed for calm.
A fiery speech by his successor, Alfred Regnery, about the "intellectual bankruptcy" of some juvenile justice reform.
The transcript of the difficult confirmation hearing of Administrator Robert Sweet.
Career summaries of the administrators.
