Resource to help with recruiting, managing, and evaluating pairs
Hello everyone,
If you run a mentoring program or would like to start one, I encourage you to attend a demonstration of the iMentor Interactive platform on Tuesday: https://cc.readytalk.com/r/do5gdsaebr2y.
iMentor is a nonprofit that matches over 1,200 young people in New York City with fantastic mentors. And we’ve been able to achieve this level of success by using technology to overcome the following challenges:
• Difficulty in recruiting mentors
o By putting our application online and by making it possible to serve as a mentor anytime and from anywhere, we’ve been able to build a waiting-list of mentors.
• Laborious matching process
o It used to take forever to match up hundreds of paper applications by hand. With our matching tool that instantly calculates how much a pair has in common, we now make our matches in a fraction of the time.
• Keeping pairs engaged
o Many pairs start off strong but run out of momentum. Our private, safe email platform provides writing prompts linked to our goals that keep our pairs talking and learning from each other.
• Measuring impact
o We initially relied on anecdotal evidence to demonstrate our impact. But our pre and post-program survey tools make it easy to show funders how our participants’ attitudes, behaviors, and skills change over time.
And we now partner with about 60 organizations around the world to use this technology in their own mentoring programs. These include organizations of every size focused on academic success (United Way, Bridgeport Public Schools), career exploration (Year Up, Fordham University), and personal development (YWCA, Lutheran Social Services).
If you would like to see this technology for yourself, please just register for Tuesday’s demo: https://cc.readytalk.com/r/do5gdsaebr2y.
All the best,
