New resource for gathering demographic data

The Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP)focuses on issues that impact low income children, youth, and families and advocates for programs and services that help alleviate the impact of poverty. They've just released a new, free tool to gather national and local demographic data in a variety of areas, including poverty, child welfare and early child education, and programs serving low income people such as TANF. If your programs are focusing on low income youth and families you might find this tool helpful. You can access it here: http://www.clasp.org/data/.
CLASP is a great resource for learning about issues related to poverty and social justice, so I urge you to look at some of their other reports and resources.

We have a couple of sections of the Tutor/Mentor Connection links library with additional resources that people might draw from to understand poverty issues, or to understand education and school drop out issues.

People can add new links to this library by registering, logging in then submitting new entries. They can also write about organizations that are listed in the library, showing the value of the information, or ways it can be used.
Our aim is that volunteers, board members, program leaders, donors, business leaders, etc. would all learn to go to common pools of information, so we're not only learning from the same materials, but that the resource and policy people begin on-going conversations with the program people, volunteers and youth and families that are being served.
